1996 WASG Kimberley Expedition, Brian Vine - Leader

Here are a few images of the expedition members having fun. Also some of the caves that we were fortunate to find/visit.

The expedition was highly successful with 72 caves being visited and about 60+ of those caves were not previously recorded!! Hope you enjoy the photos.

one of the larger formations in Window Cave. This small cave contained some excellent decoration including a number of cave shields/stegamites? (see next photo!) - 1996 - Kimberley
A LARGE shield/stegamite taken in Window Cave. This formation was thought to be a flowstone until we walked behind it to find it was free standing and had the medial crack along its top edge. It is by far the largest shield/stegamite found in Western Australia to date. - 1996 - Kimberley
all of the expedition members in The Tunnel (a pseudo tourist cave) in the Napier Ranges. They are from rear left:- Donna Cavlovic, David Woods("Woodsie"), Justin Minchin, Adam Minchin, Michael Sander, Ian Collette, Edwin Kirkwood, John Cugley and Rob Foulds (cracking a "joke"). The main dry passageway in Old Napier Downs cave. The large gour pools in this "dry" entrance passage holds back the lake that is the swim for the remainder of the cave. - 1996 - Kimberley

Tourist barge on Geikie Gorge. This was the last area we visited for only a few days but it still provided some excellent caving. The boat ride is required recreation! - 1996 - Kimberley
